Children's Education

I am most thankful for the education, love, and opportunities that I grew up with. My mentors, peers, and schools are what guided me through tough decisions and shaped my fundamental values. Regardless of their background or situation, all children should have access to education and the opportunities that come with it. Although I haven't done anything monumental or groundbreaking, I contribute in ways I can whenever I can. After all, if I'm not out there changing the world, the closest I can get is changing someone's day. Here are some great organizations that I've worked with - they are always looking for volunteers!

BC Children's Hospital Foundation

This organization fundraises for the children's hospital of British Columbia.

I was a co-founder of a sub organization within BCCHF, called Youth Ambassador Program. We fundraised specifically for better facilities and resources within the children's oncology ward. During my time, we raised ~$140,000 through events large and small, from galas to movie festivals to selling chocolates and cookies.

SDC Blue Ribbon Foundation

This organization seeks to empower children with disabilities through interactive learning and art therapy.

I served as the marketing chair for a year. To spread awareness, I built a website for the organization, promoted music and art therapy programs, and also taught a course about children with disabilities at Berkeley.

The Kidsafe Project

This organization provides a safe haven and extra assistance for students in underserved areas after school.

I was a tutor for 4 years, specifically for 6th and 7th graders with learning difficulties. Tutoring supplemented everyday learnings at school and also included fun play time with music or art.

Forte Academy

This organization provides a platform that connects underserved music students with music tutors at a discounted rate.

I worked as a designer, brainstorming with the founding team and creating high-fidelity mockups. I worked closely with the operations team to make and reiterate on every feature of the site. The site is now live and accepting both teachers and students.

Boys & Girls Club of Tenderloin

This organization provides after school assistance and a community for children in an underserved neighborhood in San Francisco.

I volunteered as a tutor while in college. I read for and played with younger children and worked through homework problems with older teens.
